Responding to the AI Era, FIB Unhas Lecturers Attend “Impactful Campus” Seminar in Universitas Airlangga

FIB Unhas — Two lecturers from the Indonesian Literature Department, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Hasanuddin, Prof. Dr. Munira Hasyim, M.Hum., and the Head of the Department, Dr. Dra. Muslimat, M.Hum., participated in a national academic agenda in Surabaya. They attended the “Impactful Campus” National Seminar, which was held in conjunction with the 2025 PROBSI CENDEKIA National Work Meeting (Rakernas).

The event, which took place at Universitas Airlangga from October 21–22, 2025, raised an increasingly relevant theme in higher education: “Considering the Impactful Campus: Collaborative-Participatory Indonesian Language and Literature Learning and the Optimization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Utilization.”

The seminar served as a strategic forum for literature and language academics to dissect contemporary challenges. Amidst technological disruption, the discussion focused on how universities, especially in the humanities, can create tangible social impact.

The main spotlight was, of course, on optimizing the use of AI, or “Akal Imitasi” (Imitation Intellect) as termed in the theme. This issue was discussed to find the best formula for language and literature learning to remain humanistic while being adaptive to technology.

Dr. Muslimat highlighted the importance of the forum for the department’s development. “In an era where AI can write poetry or analyze data in seconds, our role as literature educators becomes even more crucial,” she said. “We are not just teaching about literature; we are teaching how AI processes language, while also equipping students with the sensitivity and critical analysis that machines lack.”

The participation of the two FIB Unhas representatives in this national seminar is expected to bring fresh ideas for curriculum development and teaching strategies. This aligns with the faculty’s efforts to remain relevant and actively contribute to the dynamic national education landscape.
