FIB Unhas — The Indonesian Literature Department (Sasindo) of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Hasanuddin, is exploring strategic cooperation opportunities with the digital media outlet inspirasinusantara.id. This initiative comes directly from a 2008 Sasindo alumnus, Farisal, who now leads the media outlet, as a form of alumni contribution to student competency development.
Farisal, who was known as “Latojang” during his college days and was active in IMSI, returned to his alma mater with a collaboration agenda. After more than a decade at Harian FAJAR, he has now established PT Inspirasi Mediatama Nusantara. The media outlet, founded on February 9, 2023, carries the slogan “Educating, Inspiring, Moving” with a focus on cultural content, lifestyle, and the creative economy.
During his visit to the department, Farisal met with the leadership, including Department Head Muslimat, Department Secretary Indarwati, and FIB Unhas Professor AB Takko. He specifically offered an internship program for students to learn media management directly.
“Students can come and learn at our media company. We can accommodate up to five students. They will be taught writing and managing content pillars,” said Farisal, who also holds a Main (‘Utama’) Journalist Competency Test (UKW) certification.
This offer was well-received by the leadership of the Indonesian Literature Department. Muslimat stated that this collaboration is highly relevant for equipping students with practical skills in the digital industry. According to her, direct experience in the media will be vital for Indonesian Literature graduates to professionally hone their writing and content management skills.
This step is expected to be realized soon, bridging the needs of the digital media industry with the literary and cultural knowledge learned on campus.
