FIB Unhas – A change in the helm of leadership was officially carried out by the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) Unhas in the faculty senate room on Tuesday (9/9). Four Departments and Study Programs (prodi) changed leadership, including the Department of History, the Department of Archaeology, the S2 (Master’s) in Cultural Studies Program, and the S3 (Doctoral) in English Language Program.
The Dean of FIB Unhas, Prof. Dr. Andi Muhammad Akhmar, S.S., M.A., in his remarks, saw this event as the right momentum for leadership regeneration at FIB. “The wheels of leadership certainly turn. Let’s see this as a new spirit for FIB moving forward,” The Professor in Literature and Cultural Studies noted the challenges that will be faced by the Departments and Study Programs. “We are facing the improvement of the QS World University Rankings. History and English Language have the potential to enter the top 500. This must be worked on well to achieve it,” he added.
Dr. Muslimin, A.R. Effendy, M. Hum., as the new Head of the History Department, said they must prepare well to achieve this target. “We must collaborate to increase those credit points. We will try to pursue that for the 2026 action program; this year is a turning point for us in achieving that target,” he responded after the handover.
Furthermore, he also praised the academic tradition carried out by the previous Department Head. “There is an interesting trend that the previous Head started, with his tradition of regularly inviting speakers from abroad. We must continue this,” he concluded.
Prof. Akhmar expressed his gratitude to the previous officials for their cooperation thus far. “Especially the S2 in Cultural Studies and S3 in English Language. The performance of the previous Head of Program, Dr. Andi Faisal, was extraordinary, with the number of students continuing to increase. Meanwhile, the S3 in English Language still needs to improve,” he concluded.
