FIB Unhas — The euphoria surrounding the signing of the cooperation agreement with PT Shuoshi Indonesia Investment did not make the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) Hasanuddin University simply release its students without guidance. Concrete follow-up actions were immediately taken by the faculty leadership to ensure the mental and academic readiness of the scholarship recipients.
On Monday, February 9, 2026, a virtual Zoom meeting room witnessed an intensive briefing session that lasted for one hour, from 11:30 to 12:30 WITA. The Dean of FIB Unhas, Prof. Dr. Andi Muhammad Akhmar, S.S., M.Hum., personally led this session. He was accompanied by the Vice-Dean for Partnership, Research, Innovation, and Alumni, Dr. Wahyuddin, S.S., M.Hum., and the Partnership Manager of FIB Unhas, Prof. Dr. Fathu Rahman, S.S., M.Hum.
On the screen, from Nanchang, the four scholarship recipients—Queen Azizah Akmal, Andi Sah Alam Paris, Elia Parerung Tandi Datu, and Nur Pratiwi—were seen listening attentively, accompanied by the Head of the Mandarin Language and Chinese Culture Study Program (BMKT), Dian Sari Unga Waru, S.S., M.TCSOL. via Zoom.
In his directive, Prof. Andi Muhammad Akhmar emphasized that this scholarship is not merely financial aid, but an institutional mandate.
“You are not only carrying your personal names but also the reputation of FIB Unhas. As the third party in this agreement, the faculty is obliged to remind you that academic integrity is non-negotiable. Achievements in the industry must go hand in hand with discipline on campus,” asserted Prof. Akhmar.
Echoing the Dean, Dr. Wahyuddin highlighted the importance of adaptability. Given that PT Shuoshi is a high-tech multinational company, students are required not only to be proficient in Mandarin but also to quickly grasp the dynamic industrial work culture.
Dian Sari Unga Waru, as the Head of the BMKT Study Program, also provided specific notes regarding technical academic matters. She ensured that internship schedules or industrial activities would not conflict with remaining academic obligations, so these four students could graduate on time with proud quality. This brief yet dense meeting served as the final preparation before the students embark on their new journey, bridging the academic world of Unhas with the reality of the global nickel industry.
