FIB Unhas Receives Visit from Vietnam National University Delegation, Discusses Academic Cooperation Opportunities

FIB Unhas – The Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Hasanuddin, received a courtesy visit from a delegation of Vietnam National University (VNU) on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. The meeting took place warmly and enthusiastically in the FIB Unhas Senate Meeting Room, from 13.00 to 14.00 WITA.

The VNU delegation was led directly by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luu Van Quyeet, Vice President of VNU, who attended with five other delegation members. This visit was part of an effort to strengthen international networks and explore cross-disciplinary cooperation between two leading higher education institutions in Southeast Asia.

The VNU entourage was personally welcomed by the Dean of FIB Unhas, Prof. Dr. Andi Muhammad Akhmar, S.S., M.Hum., accompanied by the Vice Dean for Partnership, Research, Innovation, and Alumni, Dr. Wahyuddin, S.S., M.Hum., and the Head of the Quality Assurance and Reputation Enhancement Unit, Dr. Karmila Mokoginta, S.S., M.Hum., M.Arts., who was also actively involved in the dialogue.

In a friendly and professional atmosphere, both parties discussed potential cooperation in various fields, including language, literature, history, archaeology, and culture. This meeting opened a space for academic collaboration covering lecturer and student exchanges, joint research, and regionally-oriented curriculum development.

Prof. Akhmar, in his welcoming remarks, expressed appreciation for VNU’s visit and emphasized the importance of building mutually strengthening relationships between universities in the Asian region. “We warmly welcome this visit, especially since FIB Unhas has strengths in the fields of cultural, language, and historical studies that can complement VNU,” said Prof. Akhmar. He added that cross-national cooperation is part of Unhas’s internationalization strategy that is continuously being encouraged.

Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luu Van Quyeet expressed VNU’s interest in establishing a strategic partnership with FIB Unhas. He saw many points of convergence between the two institutions, especially in the development of Southeast Asian cultural research and cross-linguistic learning. “We see great potential for collaboration with FIB Unhas, whether in the form of academic exchanges, joint research projects, or cultural activities that can strengthen relations between nations,” he stated.

The meeting also served as an occasion to introduce the strengths of each institution. FIB Unhas highlighted its achievements in local cultural research, teaching Indonesian for foreign speakers (BIPA), and strengthening alumni networks. On the other hand, VNU conveyed its development focus in the social sciences and humanities with an international outlook.

The visit concluded with a group photo session as a symbol of academic friendship between FIB Unhas and VNU. Both parties agreed to follow up on this meeting so that it may proceed to the drafting of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) as a basis for formal cooperation in the future.

Through this visit, FIB Unhas demonstrates its commitment to expanding its global network and becoming a collaborative home for the development of cultural sciences in the Asian region and the world. (*)
