FIB Unhas — Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) has once again achieved a significant milestone on the global stage. The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking agency has just released the Asia University Ranking (AUR) 2026 list. The results show Unhas successfully breaking into the top 201 among 1,526 universities from 25 countries in Asia.
This information, received on Saturday (18/10/2025), marks a drastic leap for Unhas. In the previous year’s AUR 2025 assessment, Unhas was ranked 236th. This 35-rank increase is a tangible reflection of the improved quality of university governance, oriented towards research and global academic standards.
The QS AUR itself is not just a numerical ranking. It measures university quality using 11 strict indicators divided into four main variables: Research and Discovery, Employability and Outcomes, Learning Experience, and Global Engagement.
The Director of Reputation Enhancement at Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rohani Ambo Rappe, M.Si, described this achievement as a collective result. “This is the result of hard work, smart work, and collaborative work from all elements of the Unhas academic community,” she explained. According to Prof. Rohani, Unhas is indeed focusing on continuous improvement in all aspects of learning and governance to boost international recognition.
In line with this, the Rector of Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc, emphasized that this progress is an undeniable fact. He dismissed the notion of Unhas as a slow-moving campus.
“There is no longer any reason to consider Unhas a slow campus. That is the reality,” Prof. JJ asserted. “The leap from rank 236 to 201 at the Asian level is a clear statement that we are on a path consistent with global standards.”
This achievement shows Unhas is now in acceleration mode. The university not only accepts the assessment results but consistently reviews them to examine areas needing improvement as part of continuous improvement.
