Opening Global Career Opportunities, FIB Unhas and Atago Driving School Agree on Student Internship Program in Japan

FIB Unhas — Classrooms are no longer the only boundary for gaining knowledge. Responding to the demands of global competence, Hasanuddin University (Unhas), specifically the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), continues to expand its partnership wings to the Land of the Rising Sun.

This strategic step was realized on Tuesday afternoon, March 10, 2026. Taking place in the Vice-Rector IV Meeting Room, 6th Floor of the Unhas Rectorate Building, an important cross-border agreement was officially established between 11:30 and 12:00 WITA.

The main agenda that day was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Unhas and a Japanese company, Atago Driving School. This umbrella commitment was then immediately implemented technically through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with FIB Unhas.

From the university’s side, the MoU document was signed by the Vice-Rector for Partnership, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Business, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Adi Maulana, S.T., M.Phil. He was accompanied by the Director of Partnership at Unhas, Ansariadi, SKM., M.Sc.PH, Ph.D.

Meanwhile, the MoA signing from the faculty’s side was carried out by the Dean of FIB Unhas, Prof. Dr. Andi Muhammad Akhmar, S.S., M.Hum. Also present accompanying him were the Vice-Dean for Partnership, Research, Innovation, and Alumni, Dr. Wahyuddin, S.S., M.Hum., and the Head of the Japanese Literature Department, Dr. Imelda, S.S., M.Pd. Both agreements were ratified together with a direct representative from Atago Driving School.

The main focus of this synergy is opening internship pathways in Japan for students of the Japanese Literature Department at FIB Unhas. This internship program is specifically designed to fulfill the Personality Development Course (MKPK) internship scheme.

“This agreement with Atago Driving School is a golden bridge for our students. They will not only hone their linguistic skills natively but also dive directly into absorbing the high-level work ethic and discipline typical of Japan. This is a valuable provision before they truly enter the professional world,” stated Prof. Andi Muhammad Akhmar.

This collaboration reaffirms FIB Unhas’s position as increasingly adaptive in facilitating its students. Through this international internship program, Japanese Literature students are expected to be able to convert academic theory into empirical experience that strengthens their competitiveness in the global job market.
